COVID-19 Protocols:

A couple of things to put your mind at ease as you start to come back into the classroom setting:

LIFEGUARD COURSES:

Cleaning protocols have been increased
Equipment will be individualized as much as possible (mannequins, AED trainers, etc.)
Due to the nature of the Lifeguarding courses, there will be minimal contact required with other participants.
- For Lifeguard/Lifesaving procedures (Spinals, Unresponsive, etc) we will be using submersible mannequins where possible
- For physical standards required to be done on another person we will be teaching protocols to minimize risk - We will be switching to mannequins as soon as we are on the pool deck
All instructors are trained in updated COVID protocols

FIRST AID COURSES:

You will be set up with your own personal learning station (2m distance from the other stations)
Cleaning protocols have been increased
Equipment will not be shared amongst participants
Any skills involving partner work will be minimized, but when that is not possible, masks and gloves will be required to be worn.

Recertification Courses

Emergency First Aid CPR C/AED Recert

The Emergency First Aid Recertification course is available for those candidates have previously been certified in Canadian Red Cross EFA, whose award is not yet expired. This recert course will re-certify participants in EFA for the next three years and meets WorkSafe BC requirements for Occupational First Aid Basic Level equivalency. The course will include all knowledge and skills required for the EFA program and require candidates to display their hands-on skills through practice sessions and complete a written exam. Some industries require candidates to renew every 1 or 2 years, so please confirm with your employer and renew early if needed.

Participants will need to have their pocket mask which can be purchased online at https://shop.firstaidtrainingcourses.ca/

Current First Aid certifications are only accepted from the following agencies: Canadian Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance, Lifesaving Society, Heart and Stroke of Canada

Must show proof to instructor.
